Through my super agency sale, my plugin skyrocketed to #1 in the weekly charts at CodeCanyon/Envato. The traffic increased sevenfold in that time. However, I didn’t have more sales as a result. What happened?
Briefly, this kind of blog articles appear because I read the book “Traffic Secrets” by Russell Brunson at the end of last year. It was supposed to help me double my traffic within six months to generate more sales in the end, of course.
7 times traffic without sales
I was surprised that so much traffic was generated after all. Due to the high number of sales one week before, I ended up on position 1 in the weekly charts at CodeCanyon. In the course of the week, the traffic on my product page at CodeCanyon increased sevenfold.
But here’s the thing: Sales didn’t increase much. On the contrary: Two weeks before (i.e. before the week with my mega agency sale) I had almost the same sales! What a pity.
Yesterday in the mastermind meeting, some people said what I had already suspected: The “popular items” page only brings in “viewers”. Comparable with a store in a street: You go by, look around, but nothing is bought. Too bad.
Wrong target group?
Of course, that’s just a guess. You never know exactly what’s going on, because you can’t look into the heads of the users. Nevertheless, my guess would have been that sales would generate a more significant upward swing. After all, CodeCanyon generally has a lot of “walk-in customers”. And they also generate sales. For me, they generate 50% of the sales.
My guess is that something else is wrong. Maybe it’s because other SEO plugins are jumping on the bandwagon of structured data more and more. Some of them are for free. So why use another structured data plugin? I don’t know.
All in all, rather frustrating.
Doubling traffic still useful?
The question then really is whether I should continue to focus on doubling traffic at all. Probably not. After all, I don’t know if this isn’t just “walk-in” traffic. Maybe my first sales funnel with targeted Google advertising will help me better? Anyway, it’s worth a test. After that I will think about how to proceed with SNIP in terms of marketing. If I’m honest, I’m a bit tired at the moment.
What’s next?
Today I will try to launch my first sales funnel. I won’t be able to set up the Google ad this week, but I’ll stay on it. Furthermore I’m working on the ACF integration. First of all I want to integrate the repeaters into SNIP loops.
Stay tuned!
