Last week I attended WordCamp Europe in Berlin. WordCamps are conferences that focus on everything WordPress-related. It’s not only for developers, by the way. You should go to one that is close to your home town as well!
Google started its job search some time ago in Germany (and some other countries). This functionality was already available in some English-speaking countries, but it has since been introduced in many other countries, too. It seems like it’s time for me to write something about what others call “SEO for Job Postings”. This only describes […]
Bill asked me today how it’s possible to use a certain post thumbnail size in SNIP. Unfortunately that is not possible at the moment directly within SNIP. However there is a workaround that extends its functionality. And here is how it works:
Yeah, another month of Structured Data! That’s great! And here are the changes that have made it into SNIP, my Structured Data Plugin for WordPress:
The time has come: nobody can avoid structured data anymore. It’s part of technical SEO. I wrote a lot about it in the past but in this blog post I want to focus on Schema for WooCommerce. Hopefully you can learn a lot about it and you are able to create your own snippets after […]
Another cool update has just been pushed out. Here is what has changed during the last two versions for SNIP, the Structured Data Plugin for WordPress:
Our webhosting provider notified me about a scheduled maintenance of the server rich-snippets.io is running on. Therefore it might be that our website is not reachable for 60 minutes between Monday May 6, 2019 11pm and Tuesday May 7, 2019 5am (CEST timezone). It can be that SNIP will not be able to retrieve any […]
Yes it does. However you need to work with overridable schema properties within SNIP because the WP Job Manager Plugin does not provide all fields that are necessary to add all recommended properties.
One of the top questions that I get asked is: “how can I use my custom fields within a Global Snippet?”. So it’s worth writing about it.
Have you ever seen the date of a post in search results? Yes, that’s also done with Structured Data. Here is how it works.
Hurray! Today marks the day of the 10th major update of SNIP, the number one Structured Data Plugin for WordPress! Read on to find out what’s new in this version!
Last week I’ve found a nice blog post from iThemes where Kevin D. Hendricks used the term “Position Zero” for search results. And Rich Snippets play a big role in this.
SNIP Pro will have a “sync functionality”. In this article you can read how I envisage the function in the future.
In version 2.8.0 of SNIP a long awaited feature came into the plugin. The feature is called “loop” and allows you to define a property to use a loop that it runs through. Here is how this works:
Mohamed asked if it’s possible to use Rating Form plugin together with SNIP.
Since version 2.7.0 it’s possible to add reviews to the WooCommerce product snippets. As per default the plugin only integrates 5 reviews into the snippet. Here is how you can extend this number.
Today I released version 2.7. In this version I mainly wanted to make the experience of using SNIP as smooth as possible. So I focused on the onboarding process a lot. But the update fixed some issues as well. Read more in this post.
A few days ago some customers reported that Google now wants to see the url as well as the priceValidUntil properties for all Offers. Here is how you can deal with this. Here are the exact warnings that Googles Structured Data Test Tools shows: The priceValidUntil field is recommended. Please provide a value if available. […]
Since version 2.5 it’s possible to add product attributes to your global snippets as well. Here is how this works:

Another month went by and I’ve worked very hard to ship the next version. This was particular difficult for me because I haven’t got a lot of time to work on the code itself.
A breadcrumb trail on a page indicates the page’s position in the site hierarchy. A user can navigate all the way up in the site hierarchy, one level at a time, by starting from the last breadcrumb in the breadcrumb list. Google uses the BreadcrumbList Schema-Type to show it in search results. You can read […]
A few customers recently reported that they’re getting errors for the Article snippet. Specifically on the ImageObject for the Organization sub-snippet. This is what I think Google is doing and how to fix it.
Google and other search engines are working heavily on schema.org integration. In the past, a lot of theme and plugin authors have integrated schema.org in their plugins but could not keep up with the speed of changes. So what I see happens a lot is that plugin and theme authors do not update their code […]
Hey there. Finally, version 2.4.0 has arrived! Yey! New filters for developers The most important change is that developers now have the option to use the following filters to add custom JSON+LD data to each snippet: wpbuddy/rich_snippets/rich_snippet/json+ld wpbuddy/rich_snippets/rich_snippet/json+ld/value wpbuddy/rich_snippets/rich_snippet/json+ld/value/{key} With this, Global Snippets now have a new field that allows you to add value to […]
Especially if you want to build complex structured data, you want to connect them in a certain way. This is where the @id-property comes in. Here is how you can work with that.
Partially. There is currently no built-in support for both of them but you can create your own snippets out of the data the two plugins create. Customers asked if I offer kind of a service to setup schema.org for them. Unfortunately I can’t do it myself. Please ask your personal Web Developer and / or SEO export to help you out on this.
SNIP, the Structured Data Plugin for WordPress allows you to create Rich Snippets that produce stars in search results. However it does not allow your users to rate your blog post as it’s not a rating plugin. That means it has no built-in rating system that counts automatically.
Hey customers! Today our web hosting provider told us that there will be a planned maintenance between July, 09 and July, 10 around 11 pm and 5 am CEST. So it might be that our server will not be available for up to 60 minutes during that time. That means that the Rich Snippets WordPress […]
Hey customers! Today our web hosting provider told us that there will be a planned maintenance between May, 22 and May, 24 around 11 pm and 5 am CEST. So it might be that our server will not be available for about 30 minutes during that time. That means that the Rich Snippets WordPress plugin […]
Ben asked the question on how to add Questions and Answers. Here is a quick “How to” for a single post. Basically you need two schema types here: Question and QAPage.
Yey. I’m so happy to announce that version 2.3. of the Rich Snippets WordPress Plugin has been released yesterday. And: it has already been checked by CodeCanyon so that everyone can grab it now.
Partially. There is no built-in support for this plugin in SNIP, but read on. I was able to test the free as well as the premium plugin (thanks to Mohamed).
This error occurs because CodeCanyon only sells licences that are available for a single domain. If you try to install the plugin on more than one domain, you’ll get the following error on the second domain: “It seems that this purchase code is tied to another host. Please buy a new license in order to […]
In general, yes but there are limitations. Some of the plugins out there (like AdvancedCustomFields) save their data into the wp_postmeta database table. From there you can use the saved data to include it into your snippets.
In version 2.2.0 of SNIP, the Rich Snippet WordPress Plugin, there is a cool new feature that allows you to overwrite global parameters directly in your posts. If you’re new to SNIP, please take a look at the Structured Training Course. There are also two videos in the training that are related to Global Snippets: […]
Oliver asked via E-Mail on how to do a proper AggregateRating as he has seen that his competitor is using it as well. In this post I will show you how to create a proper aggregateRating by using snip – The Structured Data and Schema WordPress Plugin.
Some Rich Snippets (like the Article snippet) provide an image-attribute. In the early days it was easy: you could just provide an image URL here. However this no longer works as search engines want to see more data. That is the width, the height and the URL of an image. This is how you properly […]
Yes, there is a built-in support for it. WooCommerce creates Structured Data on its own. My plugin gives you the opportunity to remove structured data from WooCommerce so that you can create your own.
Have questions? You have multiple options: Please read the documentation if you want to learn how to use the plugin. If you’re not familiar with Structured Data and Rich Snippets in general, please feel free to take the Structured Data Training Course. Maybe your questions have been answered already already: take a look at the […]
Of course there are some requirements you should know about: Purchase Code and Licensing Note that you need a purchase code from Envato to a) activate and b) run the plugin properly. If you don’t know where you can find your purchase code, follow this. Please also note that once the plugin has been activated […]
